THERE ARE ADVANTAGES TO HAVING 11 MEN

Saturday 1sts v Edenbridge 2nds, 14th August

In summary, we fielded first and at one point had them  63-7. But then one of their middle order batsman batted extremely well for an unbeaten 77 to lift them to 166-8 declared. We started the run chase at break neck speed with Drake (36), Shrubb (25), Stevens (12) and Vorster (19) heading the charge. In fact at one point we were 93-2 off just 9 overs. A mini batting collapse left Threader (24*) & Mercado (23) to repair the damage. But the loss of Mercado with only 14 runs for victory left the tail, Pugh (0) and Cooper (3) too exposed. To have had 11 players would undoubtedly have restricted the Edenbidge total and given us that extra batter to see us home. All in all, a well earned 12 points which would have been at least 28 with the 11th man.
